NEW GROOMING VAN

Look out for our new grooming van - our trailer has served us well but after 23 years on the road it deserves a peaceful retirement (though she may come out of hibernation from time to time). Introducing our new state of the art van imported all the way from the UK - she's been nearly a year in the making and after passing the stringent NZ requirements will be on the road from September 2015. Make sure you toot when you see us!

EARTHQUAKE/DISASTER STRATEGY FOR PAWS IN THE CITY

Here at Paws we have a plan in place to ensure that our guests are kept as safe as possible in the advent of a civil emergency. We want to reassure our guest's full time carers/owners that their dog/s will be taken care of should an incident occur.

We have enough food and water (both human and dog) to last several days on each of our premises, and someone will remain onsite caring for the dogs until they are all reunited with their carer/owner (Christchurch's experience showed it took 2 days). However at some point the dogs may be moved to the residence/s of local staff; this will be dependent on what the disaster throws at us. At that point a sign will be left on the door of Paws explaining where the dogs have been taken and contact information; however we will also update our website with this information (as this is updated out of the region) and we will offer a contact out of the region so that via a network carers/owners will always be able to find out what is happening and where their dog is being cared for (just in case communications are not working in our region). Our Newtown premises will also be working closely with the SPCA.

WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SHARE WSPA'S DOG DISASTER PACK AND FIRST AID KITS - PLEASE CLICK ON EACH OF THE LINKS IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PDF COPY - DOG DISASTER PACK - DOG FIRST AID KIT
